Capoeira

POLITICS

Capoeira is now a global phenomenon, one that has meant ever increasing networks and groups in hundreds of countries world-wide.

Anyone who has ever managed a group of people will know that when more than one person is involved then soon politics and political awareness arises.

C.D.O.B does not stand back from this fact, many believe that Capoeira should avoid politics and get very frustrated with the idea of something they love some much being draped in political views and discussions. However since Capoeira's beginnings and due to the ever growing number of practitioners world-wide it is almost impossible to avoid. In our opinion it would be ill-advised to ignore political issues.

By politics we are not talking about government policy, but about group management.
We try to maintain a diplomatic awareness of the social, personal and professional issues that arise where contrasts and conflicts appear within a large group of differing individuals.

Our general policy is that we try to allow our students to create an awareness of the consequences of their actions on others. And try to use our experience and judgment to create and maintain an environment that is equal and fair to all, and provides a good structure for learning.

We are accommodating to different modes of thought and welcome discussion and suggestion to ways we can improve the management of our group. And ultimately we try to arrive at a compromise that pleases all parties despite any differing view on Capoeira and group dynamics.

If you have any further thoughts or contributions we are always welcome your feedback and relish opportunity for debate.
